Venetia looking stunning in a Custom Jesus Peiro

The Proposal

We took our 10 week old Labrador puppy on his first walk together. In the cotswold countryside during lockdown when my husband got a wobbly knee! He asked my to give our puppy a treat and he got down on one knee a gave me a treat- a ring!

The Wedding
Marriage was at Northleach Church, what a beautiful church. Then the reception nearby at home, my dad is a farmer so a country rustic wedding at home. Lots of homemade bits, like hay bales to look like a bride and groom and my husbands granny sewed all 200 guests intials on their napkins as there table setting!

Tell us about your dress

I loved the cut and shape. I have a very straight figure and my dress gave me curves! My favourite bit was the unusual fabric, it was so fun! I was so worried about my body shape, the best thing about Jesus Pierro dresses is they make each dress made to measure so lot easier when it came to fittings!

It wasn’t what I thought I would go for, but I loved it! I am hopeless at making a decision and was so nervous as there is a lot of pressure to find the one. What I loved about Madi is she made me feel so welcome and relaxed and was so good at ruling out ones that didn’t suit my shape (she let me try them on to be sure, but she was good at ruling them out which helped a lot)!! She could just tell by the way I was standing whether I was confident or worried about the bits i was worried about being on show!

How did you style your day, and yourself?
I didn’t have any lace on my dress as it just didn’t suit my skin tone, so I had lace in my veil which was just enough and a good touch. I had some family jewellery from my mummy and granny which was lovely. Lots of old and borrowed! I had pale blue shoes which were really fun as my something blue- I have worn them lots since!! The toes just poked out the bottom!!

Advice

Don’t overthink the dress, go with what you feel comfortable and with all the fittings the dress will then fit you. Be strict when trying them on, if you don’t feel good, rule it out. Your posture and confidence is so much more important than a style or fabric. Trust Madi, she knows her stuff! She was a complete stranger when I first met her and by the end I felt like she really gets to know you and becomes a friend! She’s a big part of your day after all! Ask lots of friends what designers they used. It’s a complete minefield out there after you get engaged, I found it easier to go off other people’s dresses and just helps narrow it down.

We were so lucky, due to my husband being in the army we had to have a 15 month engagement anyway so by the time our big day came around we were so extremely fortunate to have no restrictions! The only downside was my bridesmaids could not come to the fitting and trying on, but looking back I’m quite glad they didn’t, too many opinions is not always a good idea!

Suppliers:
Madi and Abi the seamstress were FANTASTIC!! Like really fantastic! We had Wild Weddings as our photographer and they were so friendly and did lots of our friends wedding. The chap also wears a morning suit so blends in with guests. I used Spencer and Oliver for hair and make up, again it’s a mind field  but they came highly recommended by friends, I couldn’t agree more! I used Amber Persia for my bouquets and flower crowns! She was superb and very professional, my aunt and godmother did the other main flowers! Cake we used a small company called Up and Rise, always lovely to support smaller businesses and it was delicious!!!! Lemon and elderflower sponge! YUM! Amelia Brennan dressed my gorgeous page boys and flowers girls, utterly adorable.
