Jen in Essense of Australia for her beach wedding

Essense of Australia
  • Jen and her mum came to the boutique feeling a little overwhelmed with dress shopping. We managed to start with fresh eyes and help Jen find the dress she wanted to compliment her style and her beach wedding.”
  • The proposal – we were heading to Cornwall for the august bank holiday like we do every year, leaving our house early to miss all the traffic – aiming to get to Cornwall for breakfast. We had planned to go to Marazion for Breakfast, being my favourite part of Cornwall. Walking along the beach to the pub and Gareth stopped and got on one knee on the beach in front of St Michael’s Mount! We both went to university in Cornwall, I have been holidaying in Cornwall since I was 3 and Gareth and I go there whenever we can so it was a very special moment for us both.
  • Venue – We got married in St Mary Immaculate Church in Falmouth. Having both gone to university in Falmouth and we still visit at least twice a year there was no other place we wanted.  Being a catholic myself I always knew I wanted to get married in a Church. We found our reception venue purely by accident and it was just perfect. The Meudon Hotel in Mawnan Smith was absolutely stunning. Small and intimate with amazing botanical gardens and path down to a private beach, naturally I had to have a paddle whilst in my wedding dress!
  • Finding the Boutique – As a child I used to drive past the boutique on an almost weekly basis going to by Grandparents house in Wellesbourne and always loved looking at the dresses in the window, even though I now live in Bristol it was always somewhere I wanted to go in for dress shopping.
  • I found choosing a dress very stressful, by the time I had my appointment at the Bridal Boutique I had looked and tried on so many dresses I had no idea what I wanted any more. You were absolutely brilliant in breaking down what I liked and disliked, starting at the beginning and making it simple and stress free. I only tried on a few dresses, once I put THE dress on I just knew, sounds corny but I got the warm and fuzzy feeling (and my Mom cried!).  It had all the things I wanted along with being a style that I had not seen before.
  • I bought Harriet Wilde Amy Blue Mid with pink cherry embellishment shoes, having discovered them on Instagram and then seeing them for real in the boutique I was instantly in love with them. I didn’t have a veil just a headpiece – a Maria Canning rose halo (with a few blue roses) which I also found at the boutique.
  • I had 1 bridesmaid, my childhood best friend Lizzie. We met on the first day of secondary school and she’s been my rock ever since. She wore a Sorella Vita halter-neck dress (style 9010) in majestic. We found the dress whilst at the boutique to try on my dress. As I only had 1 bridesmaid, and from previous experience of being a bridesmaid myself, I wanted Lizzie to pick her own dress as I wanted her to like it and be comfortable and what a beautiful dress she picked. She looked simply stunning.
  • Gareth wore a navy blue Santinelli 3 piece suit from Slaters.
  • The Day – The day went by in a total blur. It was very relaxed and fun, there was a lot of laughter throughout the day. It’s hard to pick a favourite part – I did love our trips to the beach where we got to spend some time alone for a bit and our photographer captured some amazing moments.
